The scratch effects on this DJ Control system are not for hip hop. These jog wheels are too small to scratch, but work great for mixing. If you are not looking for hands on action with the jog wheels, this is a great DJ system for beginners, or to add to a pro’s set, it makes a great midi.

Purchased this Hercules unit on April. This is a nice unit to have around to play your MP3′s at a party or with friends. This is by no means something you should take to a club or a serious event (I would get something that is more intended for that purpose). This is also good for the beginner to get into Djing. The controls are pretty self explanatory and it works well with the virtual dj software it comes with (I used it with Virtual Dj pro and it worked flawlessly). The sound works well, but I would definitely recommend using a good sound card (I can hear noise as I move the faders with the one I currently use). Overall, I think its good for the price and if anything, it will make you sound like you know what you are doing when it comes to mixing (thanks to the software).

From 1 to 10 (10 being best) Cool factor: 10, Easy to use: 8, Sound quality: 6 (fader noise), Value: 9

    Thanks.

This product is very user friendly, affordable, light weight, and easy to carry. It feels like the knobs and body of the device are made of solid durable plastic. It comes with a limited addition of Virtual DJ and will play WMA and MP3 files. I’ve used the controller on Windows7 and XP without a problem. All controls work with Virtual DJ controls without any delay except when scratching. It does not have the same response time as a turntable or CDJ tables, so if you’re a Professional DJ into Turtablism, transforming, and other scratching techniques, this may not be the device for you. However, if you like Mixing Music this device works great and will get the job done! The controller is USB powered, so no cords are needed. I have not figured out how to configure the (LOOPS/FX) to work for hot cue’s , or if it is even possible, but hot cues (multiple cue points) can be set on the virtual DJ program. If your computer or Laptop does not have more than 1 sound card or device, you will need to buy an external sound adapter. They are very inexpensive on Amazon, and are needed if want to cue up music on 1 side while music plays for the crowd on the other. Before using the external sound card you will have to configure the outputs on the virtual DJ program. The controller allows you to scroll, and load music files right from the device for quick access. This product is pretty good and I definitely recommend it for beginners or PRO DJs who love to mix and play music.

This controller is a great controller for both beginners and Pros. The knobs feel really good, especially the jog wheels which are top notch. The only downfall I have to say is the Crossfader which I’m afraid is wobbly and weak. I’m using this controller in my timecoded setup and it works great with Virtual dj 6.0.7 pro. One suggestion is that before you use vdj pro you need to install the djc edition before you use it with the pro. The only con for me is the Crossfader else everything is soliddd.
