I had to return this, because no matter what combination of dial settings I used, I could never get rid of some very serious electronic hiss in the microphone, without getting the volume down so low that I had to shout into the microphone to move the meter at all (and of course, amplifying that in software to a usable level again meant there was tons of noise). Fed up, I grabbed my cheapo Rock Band mic and tried that, for a vastly improved recording experience. This is just cheap junk. It was fun having a little mixer board, but it doesn’t do any good without a quality microphone.

GREAT podcast system. I run a podcast show and was recommended this by a friend. It’s extremely easy to use and works great. Never have any audio issues and runs very smoothly. I definitely recommend this to all the podcasters out there.

Was looking for a machine to do a decent sounding podcast with and I have to say we got our money’s worth with this one. It’s super easy to set up and use even for people like me who are far from technically savvy. 2 thumbs way up.

The box gives a really good first impression: Really well packaged and solid metal parts. The Microphone is XLR which is nice. It is connected to the mixer with a XLR to 6.5mm Adapter (that’s 3/4″ i think – the big connector you also find on electric guitars). However, the Mixer itself is the weak point. First, it’s not properly flat at the bottom – i’d have to put a beer coaster under it to avoid it hitting the table (with the accompanying noise) every time I touch it to turn the knobs. Then, the USB connection is a A-A rather than the common A-B connector, for whatever reason. The USB Cable doesn’t really sit tight in the socket either. When recording through USB, there is a lot of noise (not background noise but genuine noise). I’ve connected the Master Output to my sound card directly (there is no RCA cable included by the way!) and the noise was gone – so the USB circuit is faulty. I saw other customers with the same issue, so it’s not just my unit. The headphone is rather uncomfortable, but it gets the job done. Overall, this could be a really nice set for a good price, but with the low quality mixer I’m undecided if I keep it and I can’t really recommend it, even though it works fine with an RCA Cable and a beer coaster.

I was looking for something simple that would help me company create a biweekly podcast. The PM-21 was in my price range and looked like it offered the features I needed. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to install and use. If you are in the market for a Podcast kit don’t miss this little gem.
